2008 Spirit of Windrider Award Recipient and producer Heather Rae, was on hand along with Director Courtney Hunt,  to recieve the “BEST FEATURE,” award  for FROZEN RIVER, at the 18th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards in New York City. In addition, Melissa Leo’s performance in “Frozen River” snagged the breakthrough actor award as well. Windrider Park City 2008 participants enjoyed Rae, Hunt, Leo and cast mate, Misty Upham as they joined us for a provocative Q&A session at the Mountain Vineyard the day after Frozen River screened at Sundance. Windrider’s “adopted” film, went on to win the prestigious Grand Jury Prize at Sundance as well.

Earlier,nominations were announced for the Spirit Awards, one of the biggest ceremonies for independent film, which will take place on Feb. 21, right before the Academy Awards. For that, “Frozen River” received six nominations.
